The National Research Fund (NRF) invites outstanding Kenyan researchers to this year’s outstanding researcher awards competition. The NORA awards seek to celebrate achievements of Kenyan researchers, spur economic transformation through cutting-edge research and increase interest in research careers and opportunities for the young generation. Eligible applicants are expected to have attained exceptional achievement in research, new scientific discoveries and accomplishments.
The nominees must be Kenyan citizens from both public and private sectors
Young Researcher award targets excelling young researchers of 40 years and below by 30th August 2024.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Researcher award targets excelling researchers working in a TVET institution.
Overall Researcher award targets outstanding researchers with exceptional achievement in advancing knowledge, solving societal challenges as well as contributing to Kenya’s social economic development.
Overall Researcher award for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) targets outstanding researchers with exceptional achievement in advancing knowledge, solving societal challenges and registered with the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD).
Woman Researcher award targets excelling women researchers with exceptional achievement in advancing knowledge, solving societal challenges as well as contributing to Kenya’s social economic development knowledge, solving societal challenges and registered with the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD).
Life sciences consist of sciences on living things and related aspects such as environment, botany, zoology, agriculture, food science, health, genetics, biotechnology and any related fields, and any related fields.
Physical sciences consists of all other non-living sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, ICT, Engineering, Emerging technologies (Artificial Intelligence, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), big data, advanced analytics, block chain, Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics etc.), Material Sciences, Manufacturing and Production Technologies, Metallurgy, Textiles, Energy as well as earth sciences such as geology, metrology, oceanography, astronomy and any related fields
Social sciences are sciences on how people interact and consists of fields such as education, law, Humanities, anthropology, economics, political science, psychology, sociology, disaster management, project management, gender, demography, criminology and any related fields.
